Histopathology Report

Gross Appearances: 3 Paraffin blocks with H and E stainde slides under No #2440 received for second opinion.

 

Histology: Sections show the histology of brain tissue containing a neoplastic tumor. The tumor is composed of rather pleomorphic cells of astrocytic nature. The cells are varied in their sizes and shapes. Multinucleated giant cells or mononucleated giant cell with glassy cytoplasm is frequently seen. Scattered cells with xanthic appearance are also present. No evidence of necrosis, vascular involvement or endothelial proliferation are present. The mitotic activity is very low.

 

Diag :    Designated as temporal lobe tumor:

              Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma.
